Event Synopsis

The Environmental Committee of the Professional Engineers Ontario Mississauga Chapter in partnership with The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), would like to invite you to participate in a free information session regarding the new Air Emissions EASR Regulation, that will significantly change the Approvals process for numerous types of facilities.

This information session will provide an overview of the new regulation, including the requirements for Licensed Engineering Practitioners, an overview of the EASR Publication, information on how to register an activity and provide the opportunity to answer questions. Speakers from the Ministry include Charlene Cressman, Senior Program Advisor, Lisa MacCumber, Senior Engineer, and Carolyn Coulson, Program Advisor.

Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

Registration starts at 9 am, and the presentations start at 9.30 am. The event ends at approximately 12:30 pm.

Background

The Ministry has finalized a new regulation, requiring certain facilities to register their activities with air emissions on the province’s Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR). The EASR is an online registration tool that will allow qualifying facilities to register online instead of applying for an Environmental Compliance Approval.

The new regulation, O. Reg. 1/17: Registrations Under Part II.2 of the Act –Activities Requiring Assessment of Air Emissions, will become effective on January 31st, 2017. This regulation includes provisions requiring the person engaging in activities prescribed by the regulation to have specific documents signed and sealed by a Licensed Engineering Practitioner. For more information, please see the EBR Decision Notice Posting (012-8646).
