5th Annual Bridge Building Challenge is OPEN to Grade 7 and 8 students within Mississauga Schools.

A BRIDGE BUILDING KIT WILL BE COURIERED TO THE SCHOOL FOR EACH TEAM THAT SIGNS UP

BUILD YOUR BRIDGE AT SCHOOL OR AT HOME AND BRING IT TO TESTING SITE (SCHOOL) ON MARCH 3, 2012

The goal of the contest is to construct the strongest/lightest bridge possible with 100 Popsicle sticks and white glue.

A matchbox car must be able to traverse the bridge on a deck made of construction paper; otherwise the design is left up to the contestant.

Bridge specifications and contest rules, along with building materials, are provided in a kit free of charge to all teams.

This is an opportunity for students, staff, parents and families to learn about careers in engineering. Speak to engineers and see what it’s like and what it takes to be an engineer!

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 bridges. The bridges will be scored on strength, presentation, creativity, construction quality, construction technique and aesthetics. All participants will receive participation certificates.

Registration will close at 4:00pm on February 18, 2012. No entries will be accepted on the day of the contest.
