Glass Fibre Reinforcement Innovating The Construction Industry
June 23, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Event Navigation
Steel rebar and structural profiles have been successfully used in most of the structural applications for decades. However, certain properties of steel, like electrical and thermal conductivity, magnetism, and most importantly, low resistance to corrosion, may negatively affect the performance of such structures. In these cases, Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) are a better alternative to steel.
In Canada, the use of GFRP is becoming increasingly more common, mostly due to its resistance to corrosion. GFRP reinforced concrete and GFRP structural profile structures provide a better value to the investment, resulting in lower life-cycle costs due to lower maintenance costs.
